There’s no perfect smartphone, yes, but manufacturers are expected to at least avoid bugs that are glaring problems, specially at launch. Considering how Samsung that is much is on the Galaxy S8’s success, you’d expect it to be really careful not to mess things up so soon. As some early users that are korean discovered to their dismay, however, that just isn’t the case. Some are reporting that their screens are exhibiting a very tint that is reddish won’t disappear completely, no matter the settings.

At first brush, it may seem like a result of the software that tries to adapt the display’s settings to light that is ambient well as this content being shown. Indeed, Samsung’s statement that is semi-official that such settings could be adjusted. Affected users, however, complain that they can’t do so because the setting used is already “optimized.”

An industry that is anonymous offers an alternative explanation, one that places the blame on Samsung. Samsung supposedly strengthened the subpixel that is red of AMOLED display to compensate for the fact that its OLEDs do have more green than red or blue. Samsung may have unintentionally triggered a color imbalance in the process.

In fairness, not totally all units are affected and we’ve yet to hear about any Galaxy S8 launched outside of Korea that exhibit the problem that is same. However, Samsung have not also acknowledged the presssing issue at all. And it might not accept returns or exchanges since they’re not technically considered defective until it will so.

Some of which began even before the smartphone launched while pretty isolated, this is just the latest in a growing selection of complaints in regards to the Galaxy S8. Those are the off-center placement of the fingerprint sensor, the lockdown of the Bixby key, and Bixby’s implementation that is incomplete among other activities. With news breaking out that the Galaxy S8+ has virtually the battery that is same the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7, all eyes will be on the larger model to see if it will be just as explosive
